b'Fall 2025HAWAIIEnergy Marketers Association ReportSTATE Hawaiis Transportation Plan ReportsSparks DebateAloha WPMA members,As I start my term as President of the Hawaii Energy Marketers Association (HEMA), I wanted to share an update from our side of the Pacific. This summer, the Hawaii Department of Transportation rolled Robert Dangout its draft Energy Security and Waste Reduction Plan. The HEMA Presidentgoal is to cut transportation emissions in half by 2030 and reach 2025-27 net negative by 2045. The plan covers planes, ships, and cars. It calls for more use of renewable fuels, wider adoption of EVs and charging stations, and encouraging multimodal transport to cut down on driving. It is an ambitious plan, and people here are talking about it. Some say it is bold and needed for long term energy security. Others worry about the costs and whether the technology is ready to scale. The state describes the plan as a living docu-ment that will be updated every year. It is built around three main points: cutting emissions, keeping energy secure, and making sure it is affordable. We are already seeing some early steps such as higher EV adoption, renewable fuels in pilot use, and initial infrastructure discussions.Local members are also involved in conversations with policy-makers about how to make these transitions work in practice. While the details are still being worked out, it is clear that industry voices are important in shaping policies that balance ambition with affordability. For WPMA members, the themes should sound familiar.Affordability for customers, infrastructure challenges, and the role of fuel marketers in keeping things practical are issues we all share. Hawaiis situation is unique, but the lessons are not.At HEMA, our members are active in these discussions, making sure industry expertise is part of the process as the state charts its course. I look forward to keeping you updated as things move ahead.Mahalo, Roger Q. Dang President, HEMAEvent Highlights to come in Winter Issue S34www.wpma.com / Fall 2025'
