b'2025 State ReportPost WPMAEXPONEVADA State Report - Energy & Convenience Association of NevadaSILVER STATE SUMMARYMiranda Hoover ECANExecutive DirectorSpring has sprung in Nevada, which means we are officially halfway through our biannual Legislative Session. 1,037 pieces of legislation have been introduced thus far with the first large deadline having just passed on Friday, April 11th (first committee passage). ECAN has been monitoring upwards of 75 pieces of legislation on behalf of the Association. Our top priorities this session are: AB 29 - Establishes requirements for labeling of pumps and dispensers for motor vehicle fuel at a dispensing site. The Association supports this bill as it creates stan-dards for the labeling of all pumps across the state, eliminating confusion. AB 44 - This is the Attorney Generals Price Fixing bill that specifically calls out gasoline. The Association opposes this bill. If passed, this bill would allow the Attorney General and their subsequent enforcement agencies to go after a business for raising prices for any reason. While supporters claim this is only to go after busi-nesses who are defrauding customers, we see unintended consequences without more specific language around how enforcement agencies would determine which busi-nesses are committing fraud or deception. AB 279 - Tobacco generational ban.The Association is opposed to this bill as it would create a generational tobacco ban to anyone born in 2004 or later. AB 500 & SB 438 - Merchant bank and regulation of payments. The Associa-tion is in strong support of these bills which seek to create a State of Nevada bank which small businesses could use for credit card processing. This additional option for small businesses has the potential to reduce credit card processing across the state by upwards of 50% or $50 Million annually. 52 www.wpma.com / Spring 2025'
