From legislative action to fuel supply strategy, ECAN is working around the clock to make sure Nevada Miranda Hooverand the western region stay fueled, informed, and resilient.ECANCo- Executive Director Key Takeaways from the 2025 Nevada Legislative SessionNevadas bi-annual legislative session concluded on June 2, 2025. This years session delivered significant developments impacting the convenience and fuel sectors. Three watchpoints for our members:1. AB 458Expanding Energy Resilience & Infrastructure Support This bill ultimately failed but ECAN is working with Nevadas government departments, agencies and stakeholders to create an Energy Resilience and Infrastructure Taskforce to tackle increased energy demand, issues, and create better energy stabilization for Nevada.Purpose : Revamp current energy regulations to enable modern, resilient energy infrastructurecritical for fuel retailers facing evolving electricityand demand challenges.2. SB 132Boosting Clean Energy Projects Purpose : Appropriates funds to the Nevada Clean Energy Fund to support clean energy projects statewide. Status: Passed both houses in late May and signed by Governor Lombardo.Why it matters: Infuses the fund with new grants that convenience and fuel retailers may tap intoreducing financial barriers for site upgrades like solar canopies, energy-efficiency retrofits, or grid-interactive systems that stabilize costs and build long-term resilience.3. AB 29Gas Price Sign Transparency Purpose:Mandates that roadside gas prices mustdisplay the maximum pump price, includingcredit card transactions and additives; cash or membership rates may be listed as lower butonly as secondary information.Effective Date: Goes into effect October 1, 2025.Why it matters: Retailers and enforcement agencies now have clear guidelines on how gas prices must be published; including how tall numbers must be and colors of signs.
