b'2023 WPMA State Report NPM&CSA continuedThe 82nd sessionof the Nevada Legislature ended on the 5th of June followed by two quick special sessions, one to finish the work they couldnt get done in regular session, and the other to approve $380 million of public money to bring the worst baseball franchise to Las Vegas. For our members, this was a good session with a Republican Gov-ernor who committed to our members to tap the brakes on climate change legislation and regulations in Nevada. Governor Lombardo APRIL 2023 did just that, despite the efforts of many climate change zealots to advance legislation for environmental and social justice. I want to BIG DOGS HOWL caution other states about legislation already in the Montana con-stitution, often called the green amendment. The bill, Assembly Joint Resolution 3 or AJR3, was introduced in Nevada with nation-al support in seeking to amend our state Constitution by placing all the state air, water and land in a public trust. The next effect would have been to make all citizens trustees with the power to object to nearly all development big or small involving air, water or land in the state. In Nevada, legislation proposing amendments to the state Constitution is not subject to a Governors veto. With a strong busi-ness coalition, the green amendment legislation never got a hearing and died.
