WPMA News / Fall 2026 5 Association Information WPMA President Annie Marszal President’s Message In June, outgoing President Matt Berry (ID) passed the gavel to incoming President Annie Marszal (HI) WPMA News / Fall 2026 5 Association Information S BUILT to Adapt Our Industry has Never Stood Still, and Neither have the Men and Women Who Built It In 2024, Matt Berry told us that “Change Is Coming.” Last fall, he reminded us of our “Strength in Numbers.” Today, change has undoubtedly arrived, and our collective strength is more important than ever. But as I look across WPMA, what strikes me most isn’t how much our industry is changing, it is how remarkably well our members continue to adapt. We see that adaptability all around us. Consolidation continues as families make important decisions about succession and the future of their businesses. Regula- tions and the fuel mix continue to evolve. Convenience stores have become far more than a place to get snacks, smokes and lottery tickets. Artificial intelligence is transforming how we operate our businesses and serve our customers. The pace may feel faster today, but adapting is nothing new for this industry. For generations, petroleum marketers have evolved alongside the communities we serve. We have navigated changing markets, new regulations, economic cycles, new technology and shifting consumer expectations. Through it all, we have found ways to move forward. Because ultimately, our greatest competitive advantage isn’t gasoline, diesel, EV charging or food-service. It’s our people and our adaptability. It’s generations of entrepreneurs who know their business, their customers and their communities’ needs. It’s owners willing to take risks, employees who show up every day, and the relationships we build with one another along the way. As President, I applaud our members for continuing to adapt to an ever-changing business environment. But adapting also requires something from each of us: ✓ Participation. ✓ Show up. ✓ Ask questions. ✓ Share your experiences. ✓ Learn from one another. ✓ Get involved. We don’t know exactly what our industry will look like ten years from now, but none of us must navigate that road alone. Our industry is stronger when we work together, and that is exactly what WPMA is here to help us do. WPMA is evolving alongside our members. We remain committed to keeping you informed, connected and prepared for what’s ahead. The products we sell will evolve, technology will change and so will the way we operate our businesses, but our industry remains essential. Whatever comes next, we will be ready to adapt. I’m excited to announce the 2027 WPMAEXPO, February 16–18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We have an incredible speaker lineup planned, including comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and Olympian Sarah Wells. So come to Vegas, connect, share ideas, and have some fun! Annie Marszal President, WPMA
